Accommodation Options
Southern Africa is blessed with a wide range of accommodation possibilities to satisfy all budgets, from the deluxe hotel to the self-catering option. All of the properties featured in our scheduled tours, independent tailor-made itineraries, group travel and special interest arrangements have been personally inspected. Special rates have been agreed with hoteliers, to ensure that your travel arrangements provide the best value for money.
Deluxe Hotels
For that five star treatment in the major cities and the exclusive Game Lodges, there are many options throughout the region. The level of service and the overall facilities exceed those in other parts of the world. The Mount Nelson in Cape Town and the Royal in Durban are just two excellent examples.
Private Game Lodges
There are an increasing number of game lodges in Southern Africa, which for the wildlife is a wonderful bonus. For the true safari experience we would recommend Lodges, which have been created in or adjoining to established wildlife areas. The Kruger National Park, for example has a wide variety of Lodges, which were originally outside the Park’s perimeter, but with the dismantling of the fences, are now effectively part of the Park, with the animals having a much larger territory. There are deluxe Lodges such as Mala Mala where sightings of the “Big Five” are virtually assured (although nothing can be guaranteed), to the smaller Lodge where encountering and sighting wildlife becomes an exciting challenge. Wherever the location, the experiences will live in the memory forever.
Country Lodges
These are invariably private houses on estates, which have been given over or extended to accommodate guests. Many have a four star rating. Wedge View in Stellenbosch and Buhala in Malelane are prime examples.
Guest Houses
Compared to anywhere else in the world the bed and breakfast options are mini luxury and in general terms are private houses / mansions with half a dozen rooms available. Full breakfast is normally available, with a lighter buffet option. After a day of exploration relax in the residents lounge with a cool beer or fruit juice.
Self-catering
From the Etosha National Park in northern Namibia to Cape Town in South Africa – from Swakopmund on the Atlantic shoreline in western Namibia to the beaches and crystal clear waters of Mozambique, self-catering establishments abound, the most popular being within the National Parks. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and in many cases maid service is included.
Wherever your stay is planned you can be assured of a true warm Southern African welcome. From £15 per night to £500 per night, our accommodation possibilities will ensure that your tour budget includes the best facilities that the region has to offer.
